Sam Hawkins
Data Programme Director
Sam leads Ember’s data team, collecting and curating international datasets on the transition to clean energy.
He has a background in renewable energy forecasting, and spent more than ten years working for Vattenfall improving power forecasts, combining machine-learning techniques with meteorological data.
He has a BA in Computer Science, an MSc in Sustainable Development, and obtained a PhD from Edinburgh University with a thesis on the integration of wind power into the UK grid.
Outside of work he enjoys mountain biking, ski-touring, drumming, and generally being outside in wild places.
